Twelve years after the official publication in the British journal Royal Society Open Science, the Minister of Science and Technology, Yván Gil, highlighted the historical and scientific value of the discovery of Tachiraptor Admirabilis, calling it a milestone that reaffirms the relevance of national paleontological research on an international scale.

The holder of the scientific portfolio, in a publication on his Telegram account, recalled that on October 8, 2014, the prestigious British journal formally endorsed the discovery of this carnivorous species, whose fossil remains were found by a team of paleontologists from the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research (IVIC) in a rocky outcrop near La Grita, in the state of Táchira.

Gil also emphasized that Tachiraptor Admirabilis inhabited the Venezuelan Andean region approximately 200 million years ago, at the beginning of the Jurassic period. As he emphasized, the work of the IVIC researchers not only made it possible to describe a new species for world science, but also demonstrated the technical capacity and rigor of scientific research carried out in Venezuela.
