With poetry recitals, text reading and cultural activities, writers, poets and students paid homage to the Spanish playwright and poet Federico García Lorca at the headquarters of Librería del Sur in San Felipe, Yaracuy State, as they commemorated the 128th anniversary of his birth.

The activity brought together representatives of the regional literary movement, who shared fragments of the Andalusian author's work and reviewed highlights of his life and career. The meeting is part of the cultural program developed monthly by Bookstores of the South and the Art Network.

During the day, the poets Diego Navarro, Dixon Rojas and Lucas de Juana, from the municipality of Bruzual, participated, who offered readings of poems and verses accompanied by musical performances on guitar, according to the Ministry of Popular Power for Culture.

His work made him one of the greatest exponents of the Generation of 27, a movement that incorporated European avant-garde trends into Hispanic literature.

The writer died on August 18, 1936 during the Spanish Civil War. His literary legacy continues to exist through his poetry, theater and narrative, recognized for his deep artistic sensitivity and his impact on universal culture.
