XVIII World Poetry Festival will hold more than 100 activities in 20 states of the country

The word in verse will be celebrated at the next edition of the XVIII World Poetry Festival in Venezuela, with more than 100 activities in 20 states of the country, in which great poets from all over the world will participate, from July 8 to 23.

This was reported by the sectoral vice-president of Communication, Culture and Tourism, Freddy Náñez, who highlighted the leading role of poetry, and that the beginning of the day fulfils the word of the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, in creating a space that allows the population to be strengthened and educated in this genre.

“There is a stellar moment in Venezuelan culture and poetry that is both lyrics and song, which is at the same time thought and affection, adds to this cultural renaissance and contributes its grain of sand. Poetry accompanies in moments of resistance and offensive,” he said, according to information from Venezolana de Televisión.

He also indicated that in this edition the poet honored will be Leonardo Gustavo Ruiz, who recognized the work of other national and international poets who will participate in the Festival.

“I take up the challenge with pride, the expectation of standing by and accompanying poets from all continents, to give their word to this country attacked by the enemies of the word,” Ruiz said.
