The municipality of San Casimiro, located in the south of the state of Aragua, hosted the nineteenth edition of the National Festival of Burras and Burriquitas. The meeting brought together more than 1,600 dancers from 18 states of the country, who walked the streets of the jurisdiction to the sound of drums.
The cultural event, initially promoted by teacher Elpidio Boullón and continued by the “Bernabé Boullón” Educational Cultural Foundation, seeks to give continuity to the heritage legacy and strengthen the sense of belonging of popular expressions.
According to a press release, the activities were attended by parliamentary and municipal representatives. The president of CLEBA, legislator Katiana Hernández, led the award ceremony, and the mayor of San Casimiro, Maiker López, received the national delegations.
The dance of the emblematic Burriquita demonstration combines theater, crafts, traditional music and dance. It was declared Cultural Heritage of the Nation in 2016, becoming one of the most joyful, colorful and popular festive expressions in streets, schools and communities across the country.
