Last Thursday, February 1st, the 19th edition of the Venezuelan International Book Fair (FILVEN) opened in Delta Amacuro state and will be open to the public in Tucupita, specifically in the Oriwakanoko Auditorium, until next Saturday, February 3, as part of the activities carried out by the national Government to promote culture.

The opening ceremony was led by Governor Lizeta Hernández, who was accompanied by the director of the State Cabinet of Culture, Arévalo Gascón; the Strategy Manager of the National Book Center (CENAL), Yris Villamizar.

It should be noted that this time the regional writers honored will be Manuel Ricardo Hernández González and Aquiles José Amares Pugarita.

Hernández thanked the Ministry of Popular Power for Culture and its head, Minister Ernesto Villegas, for the celebration of the regional chapters of FILVEN, which has started with Delta Amacuro, in order to promote books and reading throughout the country.

“We have stopped learning to read a book; technology is very good, that's good, technological progress, what we cannot abandon are the good habits of reading and knowing how to read a book,” he said.

He also added that the practice of reading must continue among boys and girls, adolescents and young people, to strengthen knowledge of history and national culture. “You can't build a country if you don't know its history, if you don't know the culture of every space in our national territory,” he said.
