The women's national futsal team did their homework by beating Fiji 6-0 and qualified for the semifinals of the Dakar Youth Olympics.

Predictably, Venezuela exercised control of the ball and in the first corner kick Sophya Silva tested the reaction of goalkeeper Melania Keresoni with a bomb that carried fire.

Right away, the precise combination of a low pass from Nelmari Aguilar allowed Flavia Rodríguez to pivot alone in the area and gently push the ball into the net to open the board.

The ball continued to circulate from one side to the other with the finesse of Victoria Colmenárez's right loot, who served a caviar pass to Alexa Velázquez, whose angled shot was deciphered by the oceanic goalkeeper.

A left-handed punch from Aguilar polished Keresoni's gloves again. The second goal was about to fall and was scored by Colmenárez in a quick triangulation that opened the clearing in the forest on his legs, but he shot left-handed, away from the three sticks.

Tiqui-taca effective

So much insistence resulted in the second as much as another fabulous tiqui-taca between Rodríguez and Silva that cleared the way for Aguilar's cannon shot and thus sparked the second celebration.

With the game absolutely dominated and the standings in his pocket, the only thing left to decipher was the number of goals that the Flames of Vinotinto sala would score.

Coach Mike Guerra was also thinking about the next game against Italy or Iran and chose to rotate the quintet to avoid more wear and tear on the Dakar board oven.

Wide difference

The second half was a copy of the first twenty minutes with Venezuela pressing the exit of Fiji, recovering and shooting without much protocol at the arc of the Melanesians.

The third came out of a mid-range bombing by Rodríguez. The goalkeeper's first rebound and Colmenárez relentlessly punished the failure.

The room was pure class. Rodríguez connected with Eliannys Paz who stepped on the ball, eluded the goalkeeper and stroked it to the mesh in a delightful goal.

Captain Valeska Gutierrez, a hero against Ukraine, expanded the score with an unstoppable free-throw gunshot and soon after Paz doubled her score with the sixth.

Venezuela will face Iran on Sunday while Ukraine will face Italy for the final.
