With the signing of 9 agreements, the 4th Venezuela-Türkiye Joint Commission concludes

With the signing of 9 strategic cooperation agreements, the First V Venezuela-Türkiye Joint Commission concluded this Thursday, which took place in Ankara and was headed by the Venezuelan Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, and his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan.

The Venezuelan Foreign Minister indicated that the alliances reached “in key areas such as agriculture; health and medical sciences; civil aviation; finance; protection of human rights; and education and university scholarships”, are part of a “solidarity cooperation”.

“We can show that with Türkiye we have 3 important instruments from Venezuela: 2 that are in force and one that is being developed for the export of goods and services between the two nations,” he added.

Gil recalled the agreement of February 24 to increase trade from more than 800 million dollars - as it closed in 2023 - to 3 billion dollars for this year.

In addition, he announced that it was possible to strengthen the schools of the Turkish Maarif Foundation, as well as the field of tourism and performing arts. He also specified that both nations agreed to collaborate in the production of films and television series.

The signing of these strategic agreements was achieved thanks to the technical working tables that were set up on May 21 and included the participation of the diplomatic delegations of the parties.

This new edition of the binational joint commission occurred after last May 13, the President of the Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, signed the Law of Agreement Relating to the Promotion and Reciprocal Protection of Investments between Venezuela and Türkiye, which aims to raise trade relations to a higher level.

Venezuela and Türkiye established diplomatic relations on December 29, 1950. In 73 years of alliance, an important level of cooperation has been achieved in different areas that pave the way for mutual political, economic and social development.
