On July 24, 1998, Supreme Commander Hugo Chávez registered his candidacy to participate in the presidential elections that would take place on December 6 of that year and in which he was victorious, giving way to the birth of the Bolivarian Revolution.

The event took place in the former Supreme Electoral Council (CSE), which is located in Plaza Caracas, and was accompanied by a large number of people following the young Chávez.

At that time, the Eternal Giant gave a speech to a large crowd, where he vowed to assume the reins of freedom against the lackeys of the empire.

“The times ahead will not be easy. Reaching the presidency, obtaining a resounding victory, will not be the easiest thing. That goes on the streets, it rumbles everywhere. The most difficult thing will begin from this moment when a new government, a new cadre of political and social forces assume the reconstruction of the country,” he said.

This historic event in Venezuela marked a before and after in the culture of suffrage in the country, since with Chávez the people were able to express themselves freely through voting throughout the term of office until 2013 and that they continue to do so together with President Nicolás Maduro Moros.

With the registration of the Venezuelan Leader's candidacy came a hurricane of victory after victory recognized worldwide.
