Winners of the Simon Bolivar National Journalism Award announced

The judging jury for the Simon Bolivar National Journalism Award announced this Thursday, June 27, the verdict of the winners of the 2024 edition of the most prestigious award for journalistic work in the country.
Journalist Rosita Caldera was recognized with the Simón Bolívar Single Journalism Award, “for her career in professional practice and in complying with ethical doctrine and principles in defense of truth, as an indispensable standard in good journalism, and for being an example of defending the most heartfelt demands of the journalistic profession”.
Esther Quiaro, won the National Journalism Award in the Podcast category for her program “Economics Podcast”, broadcast on this news portal, for her contribution “as an initiative of analysis and information on economic issues, in a didactic and simple way, to educate and inform the Venezuelan people,” said the judging jury.

Printed Category: For the CIUDAD CARACAS team, for its cover ESEQUIBO: PEACE AND SOVEREIGNTY, published in its printed edition of December 1 and 2, 2023, in which, through the genre of the interview, the legal, historical and geopolitical arguments of Venezuela's rights over the territory of Guiana Essequiba are made known.
Radio category: For the ECONSCIENCIA program, broadcast on OYEVEN 106.9 FM and hosted by journalists María José Ramírez and Carlos Zavarce, a magazine of ecology, science and technology that addresses national scientific advances, the climate crisis and technological development.
Likewise, the SPECIAL MENTION was awarded to the YVKE MUNDIAL radio station for its 80 years on air, which makes it a reference in Venezuelan broadcasting, disseminating timely, truthful and relevant information on current events, through its information, musical and opinion programs, committed to the popular classes, as expressed in its slogan “Hand in hand with the people”.
Television category: For journalist Luis Guillermo García, for his journalistic work on the program THE WORLD FROM THE SOUTH, broadcast on the multi-state TELESUR, in which he offers analysis and perspectives of current world events from the perspective of the peoples of our America.
Graphic Image Category: For the magazine REVELADO, for its contribution to expanding, with versatility of current content and precise frequency, the knowledge of the profession of Venezuelan photographers in its very diverse fields of performance, action and application utilities in all spaces of life.
Opinion Category: For journalist Antonio Núñez Aldazoro, for his weekly column in the newspaper ÚLTIMAS NOTICIAS, dedicated to Venezuelan journalism, his current challenges, history, his teachers and professionals, who with their work and dedication rescue the responsible exercise of social communication.
Cultural Journalism Category: For the CULTURAL GUIDE program, broadcast by VENEZOLANA DE TELEVISIÓN, for its successful coverage of the cultural source, at the national level, covering the agenda of events and programming of the performing arts, plastic arts, musical traditions and entertainment.
Teaching and Research Category: Judith Lisette González, promotion work presented and approved with mention for publication at the BOLIVARIAN UNIVERSITY OF VENEZUELA, in which she proposes a pragmatic view of how the hegemonic discourse of the media is constructed and provides tools for the decoding and critical reception of these contents.
Category in Community and Alternative: For the RADIO URIMARE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION, for the exercise of community communication, support for local talent, its commitment to living and living, as it is located within the aggregation system of the Socialist Commune Commander Hugo Chávez, where 19 communal councils come to life.

On TIKTOK, the prize went to journalist Barry Cartaya, for combining the genres of journalism with the innovative aesthetics and resources of this social network to analyze national and international news, sports, economy and politics.
