On September 10, 2010, revolutionary leader William Lara died in a traffic accident on his way to Dungeon.

A native of the state of Guárico, he was born on July 28, 1959, specifically in El Socorro, in the llanera entity.

A journalist by profession, he took up this exercise with passion and responsibility. With the arrival of the Bolivarian Revolution, he demonstrated his anti-imperialist character and loyalty to Commander Hugo Chávez, being one of the constituents by popular vote in 2000 who marked the beginning of the Fifth Republic.

In the 2002 coup d'etat, president of the National Assembly (AN), he remained firm to the principles of the Constitution, when the then vice-president, Diosdado Cabello, was sworn in as president, and then Cabello handed over command to Commander Chávez, who was rescued thanks to civic-military union.

In 2005, he assumed the position of minister of communication, three years later he won the regional elections and became governor of the state of Guárico.

“William deserves every honor we can give him. William Lara will be remembered as one of the founders of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela,” said the Commander on September 11, 2010.
