The director general of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Gebreyesus, condemned the Israeli attack on a group of workers from the charity World Central Kitchen (WCK) in Gaza

Adhanom posted on the social network X: “We are outraged by the murder of aid workers in Gaza. Safety is a basic requirement for the delivery of vital aid.”

He also expressed his condolences to the WCK team and to the families of those affected and called again for “the permanent protection of humanitarian workers throughout the territory of Gaza”.

WCK announced that it is immediately suspending its humanitarian operations in Gaza following an attack by the Israeli Army on a convoy that had just delivered 100 tons of food to a warehouse in Deir al Balah, in the center of the Palestinian enclave.

The bombing left seven dead; nationals of Australia, Poland, the United Kingdom and Palestine, plus one person with dual citizenship of the United States and Canada.

In this regard, the Israel Defense Forces announced that they are trying to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
