What did Diosdado Cabello say this Monday, January 20, 2025?

The first vice-president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, after the customary meeting of the national board of directors of the red awning, gave a press conference where he outlined the guidelines and the evaluation of the events that took place in the country and abroad.

As the first guideline adopted by the PSUV, he called on militants to participate in the first “Bolivarian Shield 2025" defense exercises that will take place on January 22 and 23, while stressing the importance of the presence of all Venezuelans.

• “The colleagues of the National Directorate of the PSUV are actively joining; that has been the instruction of President Nicolás Maduro, that we all join together on January 22 and 23.”
• “Every Venezuelan who loves this country is a test operation and a popular-military-to-police exercise, exercises that ensure the country's stability in borders, strategic places, fields, spaces of the Homeland.”

Later, he referred to the activities scheduled for the commemoration of January 23, 1958, where Venezuelans led by Fabricio Ojeda overthrew the dictatorship of Marcos Pérez Jiménez, a feat that was later betrayed by the leaders of the so-called Fixed Point Pact led by adeco Rómulo Betancourt and Copeyan Rafael Caldera.

• “On January 23, we will be deployed in a big march. We will give the details of that march, comrade Nahum Fernández will give the details through the order of operations, but we will cover the entire metropolitan area of Caracas.”
• “The revolutionary People will also go out to march so that the People of Venezuela will never be betrayed again, that is what we celebrate, so that those who betrayed the People, who later constituted themselves in what they called the Fixed Point Pact, never appear and never return, that every day our people exercise real power, the People's Power, more directly.”
• “January is gone. Intense days but there is extraordinary calm and joy, we must celebrate peace. All the attempts at destabilization, the threats, have clashed with the shield of the Fatherland "

He also mentioned the inauguration of the presidency of the United States by tycoon Donald Trump and noted that:

• “We wish the best for the people of the United States, we want peace to reign in the world. A very complicated and difficult period is coming, especially because of the conditions in which the people of the United States are.”
• “The president (Maduro) has said it, I don't know how many times, respect is all we ask for, we respect everyone, that they respect us and we will have transparent relations with whoever.”
• “One way for transparent relationships is to eliminate middlemen. I have always believed that people meet face to face, here for a long time the intermediaries were the media, the Embassy of the United States at that time was nourished by what El Nacional, El Universal came out (...) then that was replaced by very capricious people who, because of their family heritage as they are of their last names, wanted to be presidents”.
• “The relations that exist with the United States or with any country in the world depend on the President of the Republic and rest assured that this party will support our president in the decisions he makes, whatever decision he makes. If the United States wants a relationship of respect, here is our hand.”

Regarding domestic politics and the upcoming electoral processes, he specified that the socialist tent is already ready to participate when convened by the National Electoral Council and stressed that:

• “The PSUV is ready to go to elections and the allied parties. We only wait for the electoral schedule made by the CNE (...) elections as many as they want, for democracy to be exercised and for the one with the most votes to win; if the CNE says 2, we are ready, we are ready for what the Constitution says and whoever is not prepared to assume their responsibility.”
• “This year there are elections for governors, mayors, Legislative Councils, councilors and the National Assembly; as well as the Popular Consultations and the Constitutional Reform Consultation.”
• “It is evidenced, yesterday, with some words from the lady, who some believe that she is leading the opposition in Venezuela and it is only to a small part, in which she says that the elections do not pay attention, that the coups d'etat do, but it is her usual role; at least now she is sincere, she recently said that 'there were no elections without her', now it is no longer feasible to go to elections, what we all know is that it is the feeling of that small sector of the opposition, in the meantime there are already opposition sectors that are ready to go to elections”.

On opposition extremism, after recalling the countless failures of its leaders in their quest to overthrow the Bolivarian Government through violence and destabilization, he pointed out that:

• “Do you know, for example, what people like Juan Guaidó offered to those who financed it? In exchange for what? What is Venezuela offering you? What did they want to deliver? It is said that he was willing to hand over part of Venezuelan La Guajira to Colombia for drug trafficking.”
• To the lady, who is funding her? The narco-paramilitarism of Uribe, Duque, Santos and Pastrana are the ones who finance it. They are deceiving them because they have nothing to offer because here there is a president and a government and there is a people who will never let them return to govern this country.”

Finally, he spoke about the recent situation of displacement that has arisen from Colombia to Venezuela and specified that:

• “The Colombian people have moved to Venezuela in search of peace, as a result of the violence that exists in their territory. This is not new, here in Venezuela, up to 5 million Colombians arrived in the past and here we gave them a hug.”
• “Venezuela cannot turn its back on our Colombian brothers, we have never done that and in Revolution least of all. President Nicolás Maduro immediately gave the order for immediate attention to the displaced and the Simon Bolivar Task Force was activated, the Bolivarian National Armed Force (FANB) was deployed, three Rapid Reaction Units (URRAS) were activated, we have hospitals, shelters and care facilities”.
