This Monday, April 01, the first vice-president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, held the weekly press conference of the red awning, in which he highlighted how the organization is preparing for the elections on July 28; as well as addressing different issues of the national and international political situation.

In this regard, Cabello highlighted that President Nicolás Maduro was registered by the PSUV and the parties of the Great Patriotic Pole as the candidate of the Bolivarian Revolution and of love for the Fatherland:

  • “This candidacy, which interprets the sentiments of a large number of Venezuelans, we hope that this large number of Venezuelans will increase even more, with Venezuelans who love this country, who want the Homeland, peace, tranquility, sustained progress, who want a country of equals.”
  • “The candidacy of President Maduro also reflects the sentiment of those of us who are able to defend one of the greatest achievements of recent years, such as peace.”
  • “We are going to the tasks that lie ahead of us: permanent organization, review of all structures, complete structures that have some type of deficiency, evaluation, permanent changes, to correct errors and achieve the Great Victory of July 28.”
  • “As our Commander commands, in unity, fight, battle and victory, unity of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces.”
  • “On July 28, we are going to give Commander Chávez a great gift, a great victory for all of Venezuela, a great victory.”
  • “The right wing is still fighting among them; that doesn't make us happy, but it doesn't bother us either. Hopefully they will fix their problems and be able to sit down, although every time they have a chance to speak they insult each other, they call themselves traitors. Let us remain united, together as indicated by our Commander Hugo Chávez.”

In this regard, the first vice-president of the PSUV recalled how the right wing for years has tried to implement violence in the country and is the same one that is now trying to destabilize it again:

  • “Since 2014, the opposition has sown violence in the country with its terrorist groups. They killed human beings, burned them alive, used snipers, burned health centers, burned transport units, let's remember. They have also promoted sanctions, invasions, coups d'etat and even the planning of the assassination of the National President.”
  • “Fires, sabotage, they are the same; it's the same opposition, perhaps today you see it more divided than in previous times; that doesn't make it any less dangerous.”
  • “Several people, during the president's registration, were suspiciously identified by the same popular intelligence near the platform where he was going to be, armed to attack the president.”
  • “I'm not telling any lies, that they don't assume those things, it's different, because every time the opposition assumes the record of violence, it is defeated, it comes out with the tables in its head.”

He then highlighted how fundamental it is to preserve peace and not to fall into media manipulation by the right:

  • “We are obliged to preserve peace. Early on he said: In the necessary activation, where the Popular Units for Peace (UPPAZ) are not activated, the guarantors of peace are ourselves in every street, in every community, in every parish, in every electoral center.”
  • “We don't give in to media blackmail and we will continue to advance for justice.”
  • “Minister of People's Power for Defense, Vladimir Padrino López, warns that this doesn't catch anyone off the ground: attacks, arson attacks, etc. We must take care of each other.”
  • “The Law against Fascism will be approved so that people like Leopoldo López, Juan Guaidó, and others, do not lead a political life in Venezuela.”

After assuring that the Bolivarian Revolution will continue to work to guarantee the peace of the Fatherland, he referred to the disaster that exists in the Venezuelan opposition with regard to the candidacies and the presidential election:

  • “Right-wing parties took their toll on the extreme right by not providing them with the card so that they could register their candidate for the presidential elections on July 28.”
  • “They are taking their toll there. Since October, when the primaries were held and until the nominations, those parties have never stopped. After he told them to be corrupt, he went to look for them, but they had the opportunity to charge them and they did it. That happens with the dads of mommy's children who believe that they can be imposed on anyone. Then they came down on the floor and they charged them for it, they told them the card is mine and I apply to whoever I want.
  • “We had our password and we registered our candidate. You had your password, why didn't you register your candidate?”
  • “On July 28, in the country, there will be elections, whether or not these extremist groups of the right participate.”
  • “Their plan is not electoral, they (the extreme right) did not register as a party because their plan is not electoral, it is one of violence.”
  • “They expect President Nicolás Maduro to prove that he is a democrat by allowing himself to be assassinated. So life is a ham!”

Regarding the statements of María Corina Machado and Corina Yoris, he noted that:

  • “Both have a very serious problem, a serious problem, because for this electoral process, according to the Organic Law on Electoral Processes, they can't do anything, nothing more than vote, and for the rest they can't do anything else.”
  • “Machado can't do anything, his disqualification goes beyond 2036".
  • “One has to end up concluding: Poor Venezuela if they ever came to govern it!”
  • “It's a roll that we have nothing to do with.”
  • “How did they manage to enroll Manuel Rosales, “how did they write Edmundo González? They enrolled them because they did have the key, they didn't register Mrs. Corina Yoris because this lady's impositions were not going to be eliminated.”

Faced with the recent attacks against Venezuela, he recalled that since the arrival of Commander Hugo Chávez, Venezuela has not accepted guardianship from anyone:

  • In Venezuela, “neither the OAS (Organization of American States) nor the government of the United States will decide how to make the elections and the European Union to impose what they want; that's over. Here the elections are made by the institution designated by the Constitution for this purpose. Guardianship in Venezuela is over! Since Chávez arrived, the guardianship has ended.”
  • “Javier Milei is a fascist, he doesn't care. Are you going to apply sanctions to Venezuela? He's a fool! Your government is insolent (...) you don't have the strength to govern your country. And will you have the strength to sanction Venezuela? Now, anyone can declare it; let their country govern that it has enough problems, I don't think the statements of a person like this have any force to affect Venezuela.”
  • Milei has a “terrible combination of fascism, madness and power” that keeps Argentina in a shambles. “Those statements that he is going to apply sanctions to Venezuela are worthless.”
