The Hungarian Minister of European Affairs, Janos Boka, denounced the blackmail of the European Union (EU) against his country, after not cooperating with the issue of European aid for Ukraine.

“He will not give in to blackmail,” said Boka on the social network X, after submitting a report stating that the EU would try to sabotage his country's economy.

In this regard, according to information from Diario16+, last Sunday the Financial Times referred to the fact that, “if Orban does not give in to lift his veto, Brussels could try to sabotage the economy of Budapest by withdrawing funding from the EU member state”.

These “confidential” plans, drawn up by European leaders, would consist of inciting a slowdown in investment in Hungary, affecting “employment and growth”.

For this reason, Boka reaffirmed that “Hungary does not allow blackmail (...) The agreement confirms what the Hungarian government has been saying for a long time: Brussels is using access to EU resources as a means of political pressure”.

“Hungary does not establish any link between supporting Ukraine and access to EU resources and refuses to allow others to do so. Until now, Hungary will continue to participate constructively in the negotiations, but it will not allow blackmail,” he emphasized.
