Vo Van Thuong resigns before the Communist Party of Vietnam

This Wednesday, the president of Vietnam, Vo Van Thuong, resigned after taking office last year, according to Asian state media.

The president resigned due to several irregularities, which were not specified, while the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Communist Party accepted his decision, TELESUR detailed on its website.

Thuong, 54, announced his resignation amid a context nuanced by a set of measures taken by the Central Committee to combat corruption.

The Head of State took office in March 2023 and became the youngest to hold this position since the war ended in the 1970s.
