The Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, denounced that the United States Government uses Guyana as “a wild card” to promote an armed conflict in the region.
During her participation in the Meeting for a World Social Alternative, held in Caracas, the vice-president accused the Government of Guyana of being a puppet of North American imperialism and the company Exxon Mobil in the strategy to promote a conflict based on the theft of this territory.
“They seek to turn the Essequibo territory into the great base of the CIA and the Southern Command in the region and right next to Venezuela,” he explained while drawing attention to the repercussions that an armed conflict in this territory would bring to Latin America and the Caribbean.
He stressed that Venezuela “ will not respect or execute any judgment” of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), so he insisted that the only path left for Guyana is negotiation within the framework of international law and the Geneva Agreement.
