The vice-president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela,
Delcy Rodríguez, arrived in Granada this Wednesday to participate in the commemorative
activities for the 50th Anniversary of the Independence of the
Caribbean country, obtained in 1974, after more than three centuries of occupation by France and the United Kingdom.
Upon landing at Maurice Bishop International Airport,
in St. George, Rodríguez expressed his congratulations, on behalf of President
Nicolás Maduro, to the brother Government and People of Granada, which has “such a rich
history (...) we are happy to be here, half a century of
independence”.
He stated that Venezuela advocates that “there is not a single
space on the planet where imperialist, hegemonic, colonial,
neocolonial relations persist, but that they are spaces of freedom and we come with that
joy of being able to celebrate 50 years of independence and freedom (of Granada) of the British empire.”
