The Venezuelan Red Cross received a batch of more than 70,000 units of medicines sent by the Italian Red Cross, destined for the National Public Health System (SPNS), at an event held at Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía, La Guaira state.
The sector vice-president of Health, Science, Technology and Ecosocialism, Isabel Iturria, and the president of the Venezuelan Red Cross, Luis Farías, received the shipment. Iturria explained that the donation includes antibiotics such as amoxicillin with clavulanic acid for pediatric and adult patients, as well as paracetamol, among other drugs.
The official explained that the transfer took place from Italy after taking advantage of the visit of the President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, to the FAO meeting . “This joint management makes these drugs available to the Venezuelan people thanks to the solidarity bridge between the two humanitarian organizations,” said Iturria.
For his part, Farías thanked the Italian Red Cross and the national Government for their support, and stressed that the more than 70,000 drugs will serve to optimize response capacity both in public hospitals and in Venezuelan Red Cross healthcare centers. The donation is part of international cooperation and solidarity between nations.
