Ricardo Capella Mateo, designated ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Republic of Paraguay, announced this Wednesday the beginning of the official reactivation of the Venezuelan Embassy in Asunción, after five years of diplomatic rupture.

Capella said in a press release from the MPPRE that “these binational relations should never have been broken,” clarifying that the Embassy is the representation of the Venezuelan State in territory and not the representation of a government or political party.

The Ambassador assured that in the coming months they will work on the refurbishment of the facilities, planning to open the doors to the public next July, to provide consular care to compatriots in the sister country of South America.

After the victory in the elections of April 30, 2023, the elected Paraguayan president, Santiago Peña, received congratulations from President Nicolás Maduro, through a telephone conversation, in which they agreed to re-establish diplomatic relations, fractured in 2019.
