On the third day of the 9th China International Import Expo (CIIE), the Venezuelan delegation presented its specialty coffee to Chinese companies at a tasting at the Shanghai Barista School.

According to a press release, the Venezuelan specialty coffee tasting “Open to the Future” was organized by Venexporta and opened by its president, Andrea Corao Fanía.

The activity comes in the year when official exports of Venezuelan coffee beans to China began, after the country obtained the health protocol and the CIFER registration.

Annmary Suárez, manager of Strengthening and Technical Training of the Venezuelan Coffee Corporation, and Ricardo Martínez, director of Torrefactora Rimar, explained the cultivation of Venezuelan coffee and its importance as an export sector.

For his part, the barista Rubén Meléndez led the tasting of five samples using the cupping method. The attendees also tried Delirio Chocolate's chocolate and Moi Gourmet's margarita chili products.

During the meeting, Chinese companies showed direct commercial interest in Venezuelan coffee, cacao and chocolate.

The Venezuelan Coffee Corporation and the Shanghai Barista School agreed to explore a strategic alliance.

As part of the field assistance to the Venezuelan exporter, Venexporta organized a meeting between the companies present at the fair and Bolivariana de Ports (Boliporti), at which the capacities of the country's ports for export cargo were presented and how to strengthen the logistics and custody chain was reviewed with businessmen, with support from the National Institute for Integral Agricultural Health (INSAI) and the National Anti-Drug Command of the GNB. In addition, it was agreed to set up joint working tables to expedite procedures, schedule meetings to review specific projects and organize a symposium on coffee exports together with the Venezuelan Coffee Corporation and the Ministry of People's Power for Food.

Until November 10, the Venezuelan commercial stand (8.2C3-04, Hall 8.2) presents coffee, cocoa and its derivatives, rums, cocuy, seafood, legumes and processed foods to buyers and importers in the Chinese market.
