Members of the Workshop of Four of the Venezuelan Institute for Culture and Cooperation “Hugo Chávez Frías” (IVCC), attached to the Embassy in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, participated in the Christmas Concert, organized by the radio station We FM.
As part of the activities scheduled for the holiday season in the Caribbean nation, the Carol Concert 2024, a tradition of the Vincentian people, occupied an extraordinary place for various groups, dedicated to strengthening cultural and identity values, to show off their musical and vocal expressions.
The IVCC Workshop of Four was very well received by those present, who admired the potential of one of Venezuela's traditional instruments, as well as the interpretation of aguinaldos and carols in the Spanish language.
At this point, the IVCC was recognized by the organizers, attendees and special guests, as the institution that has had a long history of strengthening integral formation processes, for the benefit of the Vincentian and Caribbean people; as stated by the intellectual, historian and professor at the University of the West Indies in Barbados, Cleve Scott, who in a very moving speech, eternally thanked Government and the People of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela for all the demonstrations of solidarity, expressed, among other aspects, in the teaching of Spanish and Venezuelan culture.
“It is important for the people of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to appreciate all the work that the IVCC, an institution dedicated to the ethical and cultural formation of the Vincentian and Caribbean people, has been systematically doing,” Scott acknowledged.
The head of the Venezuelan diplomatic mission, Francisco Pérez Santana, expressed the importance for the Government and the Venezuelan people to continue to cultivate the bonds of friendship that unite both nations, and that culture constitutes a bridge to consolidate that unity.
“We thank the organizers for the invitation and we want to express, on behalf of the Bolivarian Government and our people, that it is a great emotion for us to be sharing part of our musical expressions tonight. Rhythms and sounds unite us, because we come from a common history. We are united by indigenous and Afro-descendant roots, the maritime route through the Caribbean Sea unites us, the political projects that we jointly develop in integration mechanisms, and culture is one of the essential bases for keeping our identities alive,” said Pérez.
In the presentation of “Cute Boy”, “Fire in the Canyon” and “Margariteño Polo”, among others, Mark John, a Vincentian student at the Taller de Cuatro, showed off his talent, standing out for his performance in the four, as well as for his accuracy in singing in Spanish, which implies a great challenge.
In this regard, Andreina Bermúdez Di Lorenzo, academic coordinator of the IVCC, as well as professor of the Workshop of Four, offered a description of the importance of developing this type of cultural initiatives that contribute to the formation of historical subjects in our Caribbean region. “As part of Bolivarian cultural and peace diplomacy, we, from the IVCC, have dedicated ourselves in recent years to the development of pedagogical, methodological and didactic strategies that contribute to the consolidation of the educational and cultural policies that Venezuela is developing in the world. The Caribbean is a living source of cultural constructs that strengthen subjects and their subjectivities,” he said.
The Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela continues with the Bolivarian maxim of breaking into patterns of domination and colonization, which is why the cultural policies developed by the Bolivarian Revolution are valued, as a route to being cultured and free, according to José Martí.
