Venezuelan para-fencers Francia Jaimez and Mario Ramones rose to the continental podium after winning silver and bronze medals, respectively, during the São Paulo 2026 Wheelchair Fencing Championship of the Americas, an event backed by World Ability.

In the category B Women's Foil category, Jaimez secured the silver medal after advancing from the group stage and direct elimination. The athlete based her strategy on reaction speed and arm technique, overcoming her rivals with stops and accurate answers. In the decisive fight, he fought a 15-hit assault in which he gave way by a narrow margin, the Venezuelan Fencing Federation reported.

For his part, Mario Ramones won the bronze medal in the Men's Sword Category B. The fencer stood out for his ability to provoke a rival attack and execute immediate counterattacks on the armed wing. Throughout the competition, he deftly managed the shots in continuous time and the stops in the fifth and fourth, allowing him to overcome the quarterfinals before giving up in the semifinals.

These results provide double value points for the world rankings, with a view to the qualification cycle for the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympic Games. The national delegation completed a day in which it confirmed its technical performance in adapted conventional weapons modalities, consolidating its presence on the continental circuit.
