Venezuela wins third place in the South American Swimming Championship

The Venezuelan swimming delegation finished its participation in the South American First Force Swimming Championship that took place in the city of Cali, from September 30 to October 3 and won third place in the competition with a total of 12 medals and 198 points.

Lismar Lyon was the most outstanding athlete in the Venezuelan delegation after winning two gold prizes in the 100 meters butterfly and 50 meters freestyle, in addition to the silver medal in the 50 meters butterfly. For the gentlemen, Jorge Otaiza was the figure, when he was crowned champion in the 100 meters butterfly event, in turn he won silver in the 50 meters butterfly and bronze in the 50 meters freestyle.

The rest of the Venezuelans who also contributed their medals to put Venezuela in third place in the continent with 198 points were Ronald Zambrano, silver and bronze medalist in the 800 and 1500 meters freestyle, respectively; and Winston Rodríguez won the bronze medal in the combined 200 meters.

In the relay, the Criollos entered the podium three times, winning a silver medal in the men's 4×100 meters freestyle, and a couple of bronze medals in the men's 4×200 meters freestyle, and in the mixed 4x100m freestyle.

With these results, Venezuela improved its participation in the South American event held in 2021 where they achieved fifth place in the standings with 122.33 points, with one gold medal, five silver and 2 bronze.
