The Venezuelan under-23 soccer team tied one goal on each side with Ecuador, their current rival in their second round of the pre-Olympic tournament that was played at the Brígido Iriarte stadium, in Caracas.

For the Criollos, Kevin Kelsy opened the scoreboard, with a header goal, while for the southerners Yaimar Abel Medina took advantage of an error in the placement of the barrier that allowed a free kick to slip into the back of the goal defended by Frankarlos Benítez.

Vinotinto faced the Ecuadorian team, which topped the standings with a victory and a draw, while the Llaneros reached two points as a result of equality against Bolivians and Ecuadorians to place themselves in third position.

After this result, Ricardo Valiño's troop will have a couple of meetings that will define their future, confronting Colombians and Brazilians.

In this tournament, the 10 South American teams, divided into two groups of 5 teams each, play all against all in the first phase where they qualify for the next phase, only the first two of each group. The 4 teams will play all against each other and the first two of that final phase will qualify for the Olympic event in 2026.
