The Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yván Gil, on behalf of President Nicolás Maduro, thanked the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, for her firm rejection of the threats of the United States (US) government, led by Donald Trump, to impose tariffs of 25% on countries that purchase oil or gas from the Bolivarian nation.
Through his Telegram channel, the Venezuelan diplomat praised the Mexican president's accurate analysis, who pointed out that “these economic sanctions have a negative impact on entire peoples.”
Gil said that “these illegal and unilateral measures, contrary to international law, seek to revive the failed 'maximum pressure' campaign of 2017. Venezuela will overcome this challenge.”
Mexico joins countries such as China and Bolivia, which have also spoken out in rejection of the illegal measure, while advocating respect for international law and non-interference in the internal affairs of States.
