This Thursday, the Bolivarian Government of Venezuela sent a second shipment with 200 tons of humanitarian aid to Cuba, in support of the population affected by the floods and damage caused in the Caribbean country by the passage of hurricanes Rafael and Oscar.

The new batch of supplies was shipped by the Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, who explained, from the maritime and port terminal of the state of La Guaira, that 20 loaded containers sailed.

He pointed out that the aid consists of construction materials and support material for communities, and among the shipments are donations made by the national private company. “We are talking about more than 54 thousand items (...) we expect that in the next four or five days it will arrive at the port of Santiago de Cuba.”

Gil reiterated that the Cuban People have the support of the Venezuelan State and People, “just as Venezuelans count on the Government and the People of Cuba.”

Meanwhile, the Cuban ambassador accredited to Venezuela, Dagoberto Rodríguez, highlighted the importance of sending humanitarian aid in the face of the difficult time that Cubans are experiencing due to climatic phenomena.

“History and destiny have led us on this path of walking together to truly build a different world, a better world that can only be based on solidarity and cooperation,” he said.

The first shipment sent by the Bolivarian Government to Cuba, on November 6, consisted of 2,500 4H kitchen units, 10,000 single and double mattresses, 10,000 galvanized sheets of zinc, 20,000 iron tubes and roof hooks and a personal hygiene kit, according to a press release from the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry.
