The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela expressed this Friday its “absolute contempt” for the “new and useless” unilateral coercive measures, badly called sanctions, imposed by the colonial Government of Canada against Venezuelan officials, announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Melanie Joly.

In a statement, released by Foreign Minister Yván Gil, Venezuela described these measures as “a regrettable attempt to ingratiate itself with the designs that emanate from its metropolis in Washington.”

Below is the full text of the document:

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela rejects with absolute contempt the new and useless sanctions imposed by the colonial Government of Canada against Venezuelan officials, in a regrettable attempt to ingratiate itself with the designs emanating from its metropolis in Washington. In an act of shameful submission, they have decided to act as a mere executor of the aggressions designed in the United States, confirming what is already evident: it has ceased to be a sovereign country to become the 51st state, without its own voice and with diplomacy dictated from the White House.

This colony, infused with an empire, has fallen into absolute ridicule by following a hostile agenda against V and Nezuela. His lack of personality and political dignity has reduced him to a simple instrument of useless sanctions, designed to satisfy the interests of others, regardless of the contempt of the world's sovereign peoples.

The Bolivarian Government never recognizes and will never recognize these absurd measures and reserves the reciprocal actions it will take against the dragged officials who have taken such measures. Venezuela remains firm, sovereign and determined to resist any aggression with the dignity that characterizes the Bolivarian peoples .
