Through an official statement, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela expressed its repudiation of the attack on the former president of Bolivia, Evo Morales.

“The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela repudiates the attack perpetrated against Former President Evo Morales, registered in the Tropics of Cochabamba when he was going to carry out activities on his work schedule,” the text reads. The statement describes as abhorrent the act of fascist violence that seeks to inoculate violence and political hatred in Bolivian society.

“We welcome the start of investigations by the government of President Luis Arce Catacora to clarify and criminalize this attack on the physical integrity of the former president. The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, consistent with its Diplomacy of Peace, stands in solidarity with the leadership of the Movement for Socialism, while reiterating its fraternity and friendship with the brother Bolivian people.”
Former President Evo Morales was the victim of an armed attack and alleged attempted arrest while traveling along the road that connects Villa Tunari to Shinahota, in the Tropics of Cochabamba, a region considered his main political stronghold. According to the facts, the vehicle in which he was traveling received a burst of 14 shots during the ambush, injuring the driver of the unit.
