The Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yván Gil, published through his account on the social network X, an official statement in which Venezuela rejects the US letter regarding the Venezuelan electoral process.
Below is the full text of the statement:
The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela categorically rejects the statement of March 27, 2024, issued by the government of the United States of America, in which the heads of the operation against Venezuela finally show their faces, as owners of a circus that tries to ignore and delegitimize the upcoming presidential elections.
Given the strength of the Venezuelan electoral system, proven in more than 30 elections since 1998, the United States intends to minimize the participation of 37 political forces at the national level that, covering the wide ideological spectrum that exists in the country, registered 13 presidential candidates, including 12 that are identified as opposition. The United States also seeks to hide the fact that it was the internal dynamics of the Venezuelan opposition that ended up displacing political sectors committed to terrorist, unconstitutional, anti-democratic and violent actions, which have repeatedly demonstrated that they have no sincere intentions to measure themselves electorally before the people but rather to exercise actions in order to guarantee American interests and those of the surnames of the Venezuelan oligarchy.
Venezuela has fully complied not only with the legal and constitutional norms to hold the next presidential elections on July 28, 2024, but it has also complied with every point of the agreement signed between the legitimate government of Venezuela and the self-described Unitary Platform of a small sector of the Venezuelan right. This contrasts with the permanent sabotage against the Barbados Agreement and the other agreements raised in direct dialogues between the government of the United States and the Bolivarian Government.
Venezuela is proud of its electoral system and is eager to maintain peace, economic growth and national political stability. Faced with this new intention of the State Department, to take the path of extremism against Venezuelan democracy, Bolivarian dignity will cause them to fail again and again.
