Venezuela rejects new attacks promoted by US satellite countries in the Human Rights Council

The ambassador representing the Bolivarian Republic of
Venezuela to the United Nations (UN) and other
Geneva-based organizations, Alexander Yánez, rejected this Thursday the statements of a
group of Latin American ultra-right governments, which are trying to reissue the
already failed Lima Group, to attack the country on orders from the United States (USA).
During his speech before the UN Human Rights Council, Yánez exercised the right
of reply after a statement read by the Argentine
Foreign Minister, Diana Mondino, on behalf of a group of satellite countries of the North American empire, in which they intend to use the issue
of human rights to attack sovereign nations.
“Obviously we know that this new aggression against Venezuela
comes from the United States, which once again uses its subordinates for
its unspeakable ends. The United States and its satellites insist on
using the Human Rights Council to apply the so-called doctrine
of regime change and maximum pressure against Venezuela,” Yánez criticized.
He stressed that these governments, “especially that of the United
States, do not care about international law or human rights,
because in a review of their position regarding the genocide against the
Palestinian people in Gaza, they show this. Faced with this global strategy, these
governments are actively participating in the genocide through the supply
of weapons or information to Israel to bomb schools and hospitals, they are
complicit in trying to justify or to make invisible what cannot be
hidden, they are dismissive in the face of the premeditated systematic and treacherous massacre of children and women,” he said.
He stressed that these same countries “are cynically active
when it comes to a country that defends itself against the systematic aggressions of the imperial
power, a country that fights fascism, the coup d'etat, attempts at external invasion, various assassination
attempts and almost 1000
so-called sanctions imposed by the United States, the European Union and the United Kingdom.”
The diplomat denounced that this criminal effort against the People of Venezuela is “to try to forcibly change a Popular Socialist Government that owns the main oil reserve on the planet and the fourth gas reserve in the world”, stressing that “the issue of natural resources is essential to understand the global narrative against Venezuela that they did with Iraq, with Libya, what they intend to do with Syria and with Iran, with Sudan, with our mother Africa and against any country that possesses strategic resources and dares to administer them in a sovereign manner.”
“Those who bomb who murder and continue to murder
millions of innocent people in our countries are the ones who today try to point to
Venezuela, what a shameless thing, as the Uruguayan writer Eduardo Galeano said: 'it's the world upside down. '
The time has come for a new world where this barbarism
that we have described will be banished in favor of the true reason of
humanity: peace, development, happiness,” he said.
Finally, he emphasized that the countries of the Global South
are responsible for not continuing to allow Western countries to continue
colonizing and stealing the resources of sovereign countries, by “imposing their
interests, conditioning our decisions, killing our people. In Venezuela,
guided by the sword and thought of Libertador Simón Bolívar, we tell them no, that's enough!
We don't accept it,” he said.
