Through an official statement, published on the Telagram channel of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil Pinto, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela expressed its strongest rejection of the “interventionist and rude statements made by spokespersons authorized by the Brazilian Government, in particular those offered by the Special Advisor on Foreign Affairs, Celso Amorim”.

The head of Foreign Affairs specified that Venezuela's position was expressed to the Chargé d'Affaires of the Federative Republic of Brazil.

Below is the full text of the statement:

The Ministry of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has today summoned the Chargé d'Affaires of the Federative Republic of Brazil, in order to express its strongest rejection of the recurring interferentist and rude statements made by spokespersons authorized by the Brazilian Government, in particular those offered by the Special Advisor on Foreign Affairs, Celso Amorim, who behaved more like a messenger of North American imperialism, has dedicated himself to impertinent way to make value judgments about processes that only belong to Venezuelans and their democratic institutions, which constitutes a constant aggression, which undermines political and diplomatic relations between states, threatening the ties that bind us to both countries.

In the same way, total repudiation of the anti-Latin American attitude, contrary to the fundamental principles of regional integration, expressed in the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), as well as in the long history of unity in our region, consummated in the veto applied by Brazil at the BRICS summit in Kazan, with which Venezuela was excluded from the list of invited associate members of that organization.

We also denounce the irrational behavior of Brazilian diplomats, who, contrary to the approval of the other members of the BRICS, adopted a policy of blockade, similar to the policy of Unilateral Coercive Measures and of collective punishment of the entire Venezuelan people. He was told that Venezuela reserves, within the framework of its foreign policy, the necessary actions in response to this attitude, which commits the collaboration and joint work that until now had been carried out in all multilateral spaces.

Finally, the national and international community is informed that, following instructions from President Nicolás Maduro Moros, it has been decided to call for immediate consultations with Ambassador Manuel Vadell, who is representing us in Brasilia.
