The Executive Committee of Centro Caribe Sports, led by its president Luis Mejía Oviedo, granted unanimous support this Tuesday to the proposal submitted by the Venezuelan authorities to nominate Caracas as the venue for the 2030 Central American and Caribbean Games.
The resolution of the continental directive came to fruition during a virtual session, following the evaluation and presentation carried out by the Special Commission, which inspected the country's facilities and infrastructure in recent days. The favorable opinion constitutes a decisive step in the aspirations of the Creole capital to host the multidisciplinary event.
After obtaining the approval of the steering committee, the Committee Promoting the Caracas 2030 candidacy must formally present the project to the General Assembly of Centro Caribe Sports, the highest body responsible for granting the final award of the regional headquarters.
In this regard, the management of the sports organization emphasized that the support granted reaffirms the commitment to the integration of regional sports and the strengthening of the athletic tradition in the continent. In addition, the agency's authorities confirmed that the final voting and inspection process by the General Assembly will take place during the current year 2026.
Although the unanimous approval of the Executive Committee consolidates the technical validity of the Venezuelan application, the official granting of the headquarters will remain subject to the verdict of the member countries. If the election were to take place, Caracas would once again host the great regional event to write a new chapter in the history of Central American and Caribbean sports.
