This Thursday, at the Port of La Guaira, 55.45 tons of humanitarian aid were received from the Republic of Suriname, in a shipment distributed in two 20-foot containers, which is intended to strengthen comprehensive recovery in the country after the double earthquake of June 24.
Upon landing, the delivery was made by the Suriname ambassador to Venezuela, Georgette García Elías, and was received by the director general for the Caribbean of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Gustavo Díaz Aular, and Admiral José Rafael Hernández Abchi.
The ambassador stressed that the contribution reflects the close bilateral relationship between Caracas and Paramaribo, reinforced by the signing of 10 cooperation agreements between the leaders Delcy Rodríguez and Jennifer Simons, during the presidential visit to Suriname on September 11.
On behalf of the people of Venezuela and the authorities of the Bolivarian Government, Director Díaz expressed his deep gratitude for this gesture, which represents the second delivery of humanitarian aid from Suriname, after the cargo received by air last August.
