The permanent representative of Venezuela to the United Nations (UN), Coromoto Godoy, reiterated the commitment of the Bolivarian Government to the food security of the Venezuelan people.

During the joint debate of the Second Committee of the 81st General Assembly of the UN , held in New York, the diplomat said that “Venezuela reaffirmed that eradicating hunger and poverty requires strengthening national production, guaranteeing social protection and deepening international cooperation.”

He also denounced the impact of unilateral coercive measures that have generated food shortages, while advocating for “fairer and more inclusive global governance, with greater participation of developing countries.”

Regarding the Venezuelan situation, he pointed out that “in this new phase of national rebirth, the Venezuela Alimenta Plan boosts our productive capacities. Today, 90 percent of the food consumed in the country and 99 percent of those destined for social programs come from domestic production.”

He also concluded that “our commitment is to move towards zero hunger, to strengthen food care for Venezuelan families and to ensure that no one is left behind.”
