Venezuela reaffirmed commitment to strengthening anti-drug policies at the international level

As part of the 67th Session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs, the National Anti-Drug Superintendent, MG. Richard López Vargas, reaffirmed the commitment of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in the General Debate of the High-Level Segment and Commitment to Action.
The National Anti-Drug Superintendent emphasized the importance of addressing the world drug problem from a perspective of common and shared responsibility, recognizing the complexity and dynamism of this phenomenon.
In addition, Major General López Vargas expressed the need to promote international cooperation, technical assistance and the transfer of technology and knowledge to strengthen countries' capacities in implementing effective policies.
Venezuela has faced significant challenges in its fight against drug trafficking, especially in the context of unilateral coercive measures. Despite this, the Bolivarian Government has developed guidelines aimed at ensuring the health, citizen security and well-being of its population, with a particular focus on the protection of children and young people.
It should be noted that during the Mid-Term Review, Venezuela committed itself to establishing National Coordination Working Groups for the implementation of anti-drug policies, institutionalizing an Early Warning System and evaluating the state of the national situation to improve the availability of controlled substances for medical and scientific purposes.
Finally, the Superintendent in the name of the President of the Republic Nicolás Maduro Moros and the Sectorial Vice President for Citizen Security and Peace, A. J. Remigio Ceballos Ichaso, called for coexistence, respect and constructive dialogue in multilateral settings, in line with the principles of International Law and the United Nations Charter, this global meeting that takes place in Vienna, Austria, from March 14 to 22.
