The ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Arab Republic of Egypt, Ramón Gordils Montes, received and accompanied this Monday, in the group draw, the national delegation that will participate in the finals of the Davis Junior Tennis Cup, which will be played at the facilities of the Smash Sporting Club, in Cairo.
“An enormous pride to be able to accompany the Venezuelan national team in this important tournament. Especially with the news that, after 22 years without having been present, here we are; and because of the distribution that has just been made, there are reasons for hope and for the best possible representation,” said the Venezuelan diplomat.
The standard-bearers Andrés Sánchez, Santiago González and Javier Sánchez (two from Tachirense and one from Caracas), as well as captain Javier Lamas and co-captain Néstor Molina, will write their name in the world match.
“It's a very immense joy, a pride that all three of us, all Venezuelan tennis, feel proud. And in the end, it's a space that no one gave us, we worked it, we did it, we did it during an incredible week in Bogotá and we're going to make good use of that space they gave us for learning our careers and for ourselves,” said Lamas.
The competition will be held from November 2 to 8. Venezuela was included in Group C, where they face Japan, the Czech Republic and Italy.
