On the anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (Human Rights), the Bolivarian Government of Venezuela ratified its commitment to the promotion, protection and enjoyment of human rights and called on the international community to respect the principles contained in this important document

In a statement, released by Foreign Minister Yván Gil, Venezuela reiterated that “its commitment to Human Rights is inalienable as mandated by our Constitution and in this regard it informs that cooperation has been re-established with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights under the terms of independence, sovereignty and non-intervention in internal affairs.”

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights is a document adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in its Resolution 217 A (III), on December 10, 1948 in Paris, which includes in its 30 articles the human rights considered basic and inviolable.

Below is the full text of the document:

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, zealous guardian of the principles of Liberator Simon Bolivar, which inspired the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, celebrates Human Rights Day and the anniversary of this historic document that represents a global commitment to their protection and promotion.

Venezuela calls on the international community to respect the principles contained in this valuable international declaration and to avoid the instrumentalization of the noble cause of human rights for political purposes, an action that has done immense harm to humanity.

The Venezuelan Government and People reiterate their firm commitment to the promotion, protection and enjoyment of all human rights and highlight this day as a new opportunity to redouble efforts in this area in the face of the prevailing need to enforce the Universal Declaration, especially in the face of the atrocities that are being experienced in Palestine.

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela reiterates that its commitment to Human Rights is inalienable as mandated by our Constitution and in this regard informs that cooperation has been re-established with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights under the terms of independence, sovereignty and non-intervention in internal affairs, principles established in the Charter of the United Nations.
