Venezuela proposed itself as a mediator in a process of political discussion between Colombian actors, to move towards stability in the coffee country.

This was announced by the Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, in a statement, after the conclusion of the Political and Academic Forum on the situation in Colombia, held in Caracas.

The following is the full text of the statement:

“The first political and academic forum on the situation in Colombia proposes a process of political dialogue, in Caracas, with the mediation of Venezuela, CELAC and ALBA-TSCR countries”.

After the forum was held, given the worsening of the crisis in this country, as well as the execution of a coup d'etat, publicly denounced by President Gustavo Petro, it is proposed to carry out a broad process of political discussion between Colombian actors, with the direct mediation of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, as a continuation of the efforts made by the Bolivarian Revolution in the peace dialogue processes with the different armed groups and the government of the Republic of Colombia, that will make it possible to move towards stability in this sister country.

In the same way, it is proposed to invite President Xiomara Castro, in her capacity as Pro Tempore President of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), as well as the countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA-TCP), to contribute their good offices to this process of dialogue and promote conversations that tend to build paths to respect popular sovereignty that guarantee the full well-being of Colombia.

The headquarters of this process would be Caracas, the birthplace of El Libertador Simón Bolívar, where political deliberations would take place, facilitated by Venezuelan mediation, with the participation of CELAC and ALBA-TCP.

The discussions held at this forum have also reached a consensus on the importance of political and diplomatic relations between Venezuela and Colombia, which have taken on a positive dynamic since their relaunch two years ago with the arrival of the government of President Petro.

Finally, the proposal of the large community of Colombians and Colombians in Venezuela, made up of millions of migrants, to join the initiatives proposed by this forum, which has been carried out invoking the noblest principles of solidarity between the Bolivarian peoples, has been welcomed.
