The President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, led this Friday an inspection of the oil and gas projects developed between Venezuela and the United States (USA) in the western basin, where she highlighted the State's commitment to consolidating energy sovereignty and expanding national productive capacity.
During the activity, the president asserted that “we continue to work on hydrocarbons for the energy positioning of Venezuela, the country with the largest reserves on the planet, but we also want to be one of the main producers in the world and for this productivity to be converted into profits for Venezuelans.”
For his part, the president of Petrleos de Venezuela S.A (PDVSA), Héctor Obregón, presented the associated gas fractionation plan in the state of Zulia and stressed that the central objective is to achieve regional energy sovereignty by covering the domestic market and generating surpluses for foreign trade.
In this regard, the state oil authority stated that “the objective is to achieve the total chain of both that oil exploitation and associated gas and that Zulia becomes a producer of LPG, which will not only cover, president, the local market of the state of Zulia itself, but will cover the demand of nearby states such as the Andean states and some Western states such as Falcón, but we have enough production, president, to continue leveraging exports and we are visualizing that this gas that will be produced in the western basin may have as its destination the sale of LPG, either by land because of its proximity to border states.”
Regarding international marketing horizons, President Delcy Rodríguez confirmed that the projections stipulate the distribution of liquefied petroleum gas to the Caribbean area as part of expanding trade agreements. In this regard, he stated that “it is envisaged exporting to the Caribbean”,.
At the same time, he emphasized that the Bolivarian Government wants to “show precisely the productive impulse that we are giving to the hydrocarbon industry and how it can be linked with other engines of the economy to turn Venezuela into a true power Venezuela, but one that is a power of the happiness of our people.”
Rodríguez and the corporation's management agreed that the revenues generated by the commercialization and export of these energy resources will be allocated entirely to strengthening the country's public services and infrastructure. And he stressed that the development of the hydrocarbon sector will directly translate into “income for our workers, in public health, in well-being for the population and in public services such as electricity, water and roads, through which the true development of Venezuela is advancing.”
