This Monday, the XLVI Ordinary Meeting of National Coordinators of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) concluded in Honduras, at which representatives of 33 nations discussed the Tegucigalpa Declaration.

The Venezuelan representation was in charge of the Deputy Minister for Multilateral Issues of the Ministry of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs, Rubén Darío Molina, who is part of the diplomatic delegation participating, on behalf of President Nicolás Maduro, in the 9th CELAC Summit.

According to international media, during the meeting, the achievements achieved by CELAC were discussed, including the introduction of new political tools to move towards a multipolar world, as well as the importance of the union to face the current challenges of the region.

In his speech, the vice-chancellor for Foreign Policy of Honduras and general coordinator of the Pro Tempore Presidency (PPT) of CELAC, Gerardo Torres, noted that the integrationist block provided a “collective response to the challenges of food security, women, resilience to climate change, human mobility and the construction of a new energy architecture. We are also preparing to understand and take advantage of the opportunities of 5G, the Internet, artificial intelligence and e-commerce. We have inherited something good from Latin America and the Caribbean, it would not have been possible without the support of the other 32 States that make up this community.”

The Tegucigalpa Declaration is a document that summarizes the actions, agreements and meetings of working groups pertaining to the period 2024-2025; which will be reflected in the 9th Summit of Heads of State and Government of CELAC, at which President Xiomara Castro will submit to the plenary for consideration.
