A delegation from Venezuela, led by Ambassador Nabil Abdul Khalek, is participating in the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Trade reported on its website.

The event is being held in the United Arab Emirates from September 26 to October 1 with the objective of promoting the rule of law, justice and the 2030 Agenda in the digital age.

The Venezuelan diplomatic team includes representatives of the Public Ministry and the Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Vienna.

During his speech, Abdul Khalek thanked the host nation and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for managing the meeting, while presenting the country's official position.

The representative emphasized that crime prevention requires citizen participation beyond the State's criminal response. Under this approach, he highlighted policies focused on equal access to justice, social inclusion and care for vulnerable sectors, in addition to the use of digital transformation to combat criminal organizations.

At the close of the day, the delegation reaffirmed its commitment to collaborate with the international community through dialogue, technical assistance and respect for international law.

With this effort, the delegation advocates consolidating a more just global order where justice and prevention promote sustainable development.
