Venezuela is participating in the technical meeting on the development of nuclear energy infrastructure, which is being held at the headquarters of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna, Austria, from March 11 to 14, 2025.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Science and Technology, this event is essential for member States to share experiences and analyze lessons learned, thus supporting the development of their national nuclear energy infrastructure.
The IAEA provides technical support to countries implementing nuclear energy programs. In this context, the organization provides a road map and guidance for developing the necessary infrastructure, creating an environment conducive to the execution of safe, protected and sustainable nuclear projects.
During these meetings, the challenges faced by countries in prioritizing and programming activities related to the development of nuclear infrastructure are discussed.
One of the main objectives of this meeting is to facilitate the exchange of information between participants, especially those who are starting or expanding their nuclear programs.
Topics such as the recent development of nuclear programs, feasibility studies for nuclear power plant projects, infrastructure considerations, and the establishment of key organizations for a nuclear program will be addressed.
The conference will also provide a global perspective on nuclear energy and updates on the state of activities in nuclear infrastructure development, including advances in legal and regulatory frameworks, as well as in radioactive waste management and environmental protection.
Venezuela will present its advances in the protection of radioactive sources in its territory and will highlight the need for the development of nuclear programs that contribute to the protection of humanity, in line with the historical objectives of the 2025 Homeland Plan, which seeks to contribute to the preservation of life on the planet and to the salvation of the human species.
