Below is the full statement
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, through the Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Popular Power for Sports, has learned of a group of young Venezuelan baseball players who have been under the supervision of Spanish authorities since March 31, 2025.
The Government of Venezuela has launched an investigation to clarify the facts and determine if there is a possible human trafficking scheme linked to these cases. We also denounce the repeated use of legal figures of international law for political purposes by some governments, who seek to discredit Venezuela and manipulate young talents to feed a fascist and neocolonial narrative.
We reaffirm our commitment to the protection of Venezuelan athletes and warn of the existence of networks that seek to profit from the trafficking and deception of talented young people and their families. We call on the Spanish authorities to ensure transparency in this process and to avoid the politicization of an issue that must be treated responsibly.
