This Friday, the
Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela welcomed the ruling of the International Court
of Justice (ICJ) against the genocide by
Israel in the Gaza Strip, in response to the complaint filed by South Africa.
“However, the Bolivarian
Republic of Venezuela believes that the orders issued by the International
Court of Justice should have considered an immediate ceasefire
and of any type of hostility that has massively violated the
Human Rights of the Palestinian people,” the Bolivarian Government said in a statement
released by Foreign Minister Yván Gil in his account X.
The
court decision dismissed the request submitted by Israel and ordered the “
Zionist State to take all measures” to protect the population of Gaza, in
response to the lawsuit filed by the Republic of South Africa for genocide, the document states.
Below is
the full text of the statement:
The
Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela welcomes the ruling issued by the ICJ on January 26, 2024, in favor
of the Palestinian people and the dismissal of
Israel's request, which orders the Zionist State to take “all measures” to
protect the people of Gaza; in response to the demand filed by the
Republic of South Africa, regarding obvious violations by Israel of the Convention for Prevention
and the Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.
However, the Bolivarian
Republic of Venezuela believes that the orders issued by the International
Court of Justice should have considered an immediate ceasefire
and of any type of hostility that has massively violated the Human Rights of the Palestinian people.
We reiterate, under
the permanent and firm practice of Bolivarian Peace Diplomacy, our
condemnation and rejection of the permanent violence of the Israeli occupation against
Gaza, and we defend the path of peace as the only opinion to agree on the
coexistence of humanity and respect the sacred right to life of the Palestinian people
and of all the peoples of the world.
