After the various demonstrations called by the opposition that originated in Maputo, the capital of Mozambique, when the electoral victory and re-election of the ruling candidate, Daniel Chapo, was announced , Venezuela expressed its solidarity with the African nation.
Through his Telegram channel, the Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, announced that he had a telephone conversation with his counterpart from the Republic of Mozambique, Verónica Macamo.
The foreign minister explained that on behalf of President Nicolás Maduro and the Venezuelan People, he transmitted Venezuela's solidarity and support, “in the face of the attack on democracy in that sister country, by those who pretend to ignore the institutions and the will expressed by the people with their vote.”
He also assured that through the unity of the People of Mozambique they will overcome the “forces of darkness”.
Maputo is currently going through an episode of violence, similar to the one that occurred in Caracas when in July 2024, after the announcement of the re-election of President Nicolás Maduro, the right wing called on its followers to ignore the results and the will of the People.
The National Electoral Council (CNE) of Mozambique announced that the former ruling candidate, Daniel Chapo, won the presidential race with 70.67% of the votes. While his opponent, opponent Venâncio Mondlan e, took second place with 20.32%.
