“The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela expresses its strongest rejection of the acts perpetrated on the night of April 5, 2024, at the headquarters of the Diplomatic Mission of the United Mexican States by the Security Organs of the Government of Ecuador, in which they illegally raided and captured the former vice-president, Jorge Glas, to whom the Mexican government had granted political asylum, as a result of the atrocious persecution of which he was a victim.”
This is the position expressed by the Bolivarian Government in a statement issued after this event, which warns it creates a “precedent for Ecuador and the world”, since it is an illegal act that “not even in the most atrocious dictatorships in the region such as that of Augusto Pinochet in Chile or Jorge Rafael Videla in Argentina”, was carried out.
“The Ecuadorian Government is on a par with the criminal regime of Israel,” he maintains while warning of the “possible emergence of an era of terror for Ecuador, where neofascism as an extreme and totalitarian ideology would be manifested.”
