The Minister of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs of Venezuela, Yván Gil, ruled on Monday that the country will never give in to the “extortion of Washington and its satellites” in its “failed attempt to destroy” the “political, economic, social and cultural system, including repeated interference” in internal affairs.

During his speech at the Ministerial Meeting of the Movement of Non-Aligned Countries (MNOAL), which takes place in the context of the 79th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), the diplomat reiterated that in recent weeks Venezuela has been “the subject of an international campaign of defamation, distortion of information and dissemination of extremist ideas, with the purpose of destabilizing the Government of President Nicolás Maduro Moors”.

He assured that the hostile policy of the United States and its international allies is a flagrant “violation of the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of Venezuela, and an incitement to promote a change in political power that, in a sovereign and legitimate way, we have given ourselves.”

Cessation of the genocide of the Palestinian people

Following the discursive narrative regarding decolonization, Gil did not ignore the question of Palestine, “one of the most painful tragedies of our time, and which, at its core, is precisely the denial of the inalienable right to self-determination of an entire people, who, heroically, have fought for more than 70 years for the establishment of their free, sovereign and independent State of Palestine, on the borders before 1967 and with East Jerusalem as its capital”.

On behalf of Venezuela, the Minister expressed his firm support and unwavering solidarity with the brotherly Palestinian people in their just struggle, specifying that he will support “each and every initiative aimed at achieving a ceasefire to stop this wave of death, pain and destruction, which has been accentuated for almost a year, when the Occupying Power attacked its genocide against the civilian population of the Gaza Strip”.

“We call for our movement to be at the forefront of efforts to preserve a political horizon and to move towards a just and lasting solution, of which accountability, the right to return and the incorporation of the State of Palestine as a full member of the United Nations, among other issues, are an integral part,” he urged.

The Chancellor, evoking the multilateralism and cooperation of the Global South, condemned the enactment and implementation of the so-called sanctions and suggested that the MNOAL redouble its efforts to “continue fighting at all costs for peace, independence, sovereign equality and non-intervention in the internal affairs of States”.
