The deputy to the National Assembly (AN) and president of the Venezuela-Colombia Parliamentary Friendship Group, Julio Chávez, stressed that during the meeting of the Accidental Commission for the Monitoring and Restoration of Diplomatic and Commercial Relations between Venezuela and Colombia, held last week in the capital of New Granada, it was agreed that the next joint session will be held in the national territory.
Chávez explained that Colombian-Venezuelan relations are going through a good period. “These activities and direct exchanges will help to clear the horizons and the drums of war and will open spaces for a relationship between sister peoples of many years,” he highlighted in an interview published by national media.
He stressed that these meetings are intended to “work in an accelerated manner to re-establish relations between sister peoples” and that “a process of rapprochement, of working on important issues, legislative initiatives, definition of social and State policies, infrastructure, transport and mobility and the issue of migration” has begun.
He also stressed that after having the trade balance at zero, “in 2024 we are closing with a volume close to one billion dollars and the projection for 2025 is that this figure could double and reach two billion dollars,” said the parliamentarian. In the same way, he explained that, as the Venezuelan economy has been recovering, commercial exchange has increased.
“This speaks and confirms that it has been based on Peace Diplomacy, respect for independence and sovereignty and understanding each other as a people regardless of attempts to divide us, and look at the results,” he concluded.
