The Bolivarian Government of Venezuela issued a statement this Friday, May 10, in which it expresses its support and solidarity with the People of Palestine, after their recent diplomatic victory, in an overwhelming way, where the international community voted for admission as a full member of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), in order to recognize their rights as a free, sovereign and independent state.

The statement was published by the Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, on his account of the social network X, in which Venezuela reiterated the call for reflection on the position of the United States, whose use of the veto in the Security Council has blocked the full membership of Palestine.

In this regard, the Bolivarian Government ratified its firm position against violence and joins the global call for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Palestine.

Below is the full text of the statement:

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela celebrates the diplomatic victory of the courageous Palestinian people, in the United Nations General Assembly, where, by an overwhelming majority, the peoples and governments of the world have made it clear that Palestine must be admitted as a member of that organization, granting it an extension of its rights as a free, sovereign and independent State.

Venezuela recalls that it has been the isolated, arbitrary and unjust position of the United States, which, as a permanent member of the Security Council, has abused its right of veto and its position of power, that has prevented Palestine from entering as a full member, and therefore urges this country to recognize and comply with the mandate of the General Assembly immediately.

Once again, the Bolivarian Government joins the demand for a ceasefire and an immediate and unconditional stop to the genocide, urging international justice to determine responsibility for the crimes against humanity committed by the State of Israel, which have caused more than 35,000 fatalities in recent months, most of them women, girls and boys.
