Venezuela beat South Korea in pre-world basketball tournament

The Venezuelan national team made its debut with victory against its Asian counterpart from South Korea in the pre-qualifier for the 2026 World Cup, which is being held in Mexico City.

This victory is the first of a women's team against an Asian team, thanks to good defense and accurate attacks from the purples who imposed their pace and thus achieved their first victory of the 86-78 tournament.

For the Venezuelan team, Waleska Pérez scored 22 points, 8 rebounds plus 5 assists, while Daniela Wallen scored 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists, and newcomer Brianna Herlihy dropped with 17 goals, 9 boards plus 4 assists, and Steffany Fajardo also stood out with 12 points and 2 rebounds.

This Tuesday, the women's national team will play its second match against Mali at 10:30 p.m. Venezuelan time.
